Does Money Rule? (1679 hits)

Quick question. How much does it cost to be happy? I think that happiness is free if you know where to look. Money can't but happiness, maybe a quick fix, but not true happiness.

Money is something is something comes and goes throughout life and is meant to be used at your disposal, not to be what disposes of you. When money leaves your hands, replace it or learn to live without the money that is gone.

"Money is man-made, it doesn't make the man." Create your wealth and don't let it create you.

Emmanuel

"If money be not thy servant, it will be thy master."

-- Francis Bacon

In what ways does money rule your life?

Money has entered so deeply into our lives that it can become our primary reference point. We make so many of our decisions based on how they affect the bottom line. Do you compromise things you really value for money? Has the power of money hurt your relationships, your health, your work or your self-respect?

"If a person gets his attitude toward money straight, it will help straighten out almost every other area in his life."

-- Billy Graham

Mister Johnson:

I totally agree with you on this aspect about being in control of your finances and dictating how much your time is worth. If you are building your own business and it is just beginning, you are still in control of your money instead of your money controlling you and your time.

Clark Maxwell:

I think true happiness has nothing to do with your financial status, but people tend to put so much emphasis on the material things that they want in life that money becomes a source of "unhappiness". If we can't afford it and it is not necessary, then it is not meant to have. There is a big difference between needs and wants, when that difference is determined we can actually begin to get a few things that we want because we begin to make sure our immediate needs have priority over the things that are not necessary.

Becoming financial literate is a very important step in our progress as a whole, and although some people might disagree, it the responsibility and a smart financial move for the financial literate to teach their knowledge to those who don't understand their finances. Maybe then, we can begin to keep some of our money in our neighborhoods to help them grow and develop as opposed to contributing to the growth and development of corporate entities.

In the words of 50 Cent..."The top looks so much better than the bottom...so much better". Money may not buy ultimate happiness, but it sure can make you feel a lot better. I know very few people who would exchange wealth for an average or poor person's existence.

Its funny how these conversations come up and people try to separate money from happiness...all the while trying to get more money...so they can be happier: go figure!

P.S. Money is the number cause of divorce…e.g….lack of money can cause unhappiness.

Dr Ahmad Glover:

You're right that money does tend to cause issues that contribute to unhappiness, but that is because the person involved is not in control of their money. While the man and his wife were working to find happiness with the money they receive, they destroy the happiness.
